William Hogarth: The Pool of BethesdaThe Sabbath Healing at the Pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-18) - this story is found only in John's Gospel


The Ensuing Controversy (John 5:19-47) - this episode is found only in John, but would be difficult to portray in art

Pedro Orrente: The Feeding of the Five ThousandThe Feeding of the Five Thousand (John 6:1-16) - this story is in all four Gospels (Mark 6:32-4; Matt 14:13-21; Luke 9:10-17); distinctively Johannine details include the mention of the young boy, that the loaves are made of barley, and the people's acclamation at the end


Jesus Walks on the Water (John 6:17-21) - this story is in two other Gospels (Mark 6:45-52; Matt 14:22-33), but only Matthew has Peter walk on water also


The Bread of Life Discourse & Words of Eternal Life (John 6:22-71) - these dialogues are found only in John, but difficult to depict artistically
